Okay, I'm beginning to put more faith in this now. As I've said before, it's always about week 5 when the convergence starts to actually make sense. There were a lot of big Changes since last week, which is an indicator of how bad last weeks rankings were.
Thanks to their big win over Stanford last night ND leapfrogs into 1st place. Alabama and Georgia had relatively easy games that didn't really help or hurt them in any way. Stanford's loss doesn't really hurt them much either, as being a one loss team and only losing to the #1 team is a pretty legit record to have. That's part of why S. Carolina is still really high, thanks to their difficulty of schedule and one of their losses being to Georgia. Their other loss this week though made them drop to 15th which is probably a more logical place for them.
I'm glad to see 5 non-power-five schools in the top 25. That was why I made this system in the first place, to give them a fair shake at seeing how they actually stack up. UCF has played a really easy schedule, so we'll see if they can hold out, but Army and ND and S. Florida may be legit this year. Boise State is always there and who ever knows what they're going to do. I'll be interested to see how the BYUvBSU game goes.
BYU's destruction at the hands of Washington pushes them all the way to 50th for now but I suspect they will recover from that as they head into some easier portions of their schedule. Utah's late loss at Washington State drops them to 71st and nothing really gets easier from here as they are at Stanford next.
