Here are the, admittedly nearly useless, results after week 1 of college football. So many teams have the same scores that I just have them in alphabetical order within their respective ties.
I have not done very much hand checking of these results and have mostly trusted that my code from last year is still working correctly. IF YOU FIND ANY ERRORS, PLEASE LET ME KNOW SO I CAN FIX THEM ASAP. It's quite possible that something is off (teams change, the websites I farm from change their formatting and abbreviations, etc) and I just haven't caught it yet.
If you have any feedback, let me or the Commish know on Twitter (@NateEMiller and @IowaHawkBlog).
For those that were also following my other ranking system (NEMindex) last year, I don't usually get that going until about week 5 or 6 of each season as I need that much data before my regression will converge to a logical solution. So look for that in about a month.
Here's the Marble Game rules for those that don't remember:
The rules of the Marble Game:
- Each power-5 team started the season with 200 marbles, each non-power-5 started with 100.
- For each home win you take 20% of your opponents marbles. For each road win you take 25%.
- Neutral site games are treated like home games (worth 20%) for each team
- Notre Dame and BYU were given the privilege of starting with 200 marbles
- Fractional marbles get rounded to whole marbles at the time when they are moved from one team to the other.
