Oklahoma became the most recent undefeated team to fall, leaving now only 9. They lost 81 marbles and fell to 11th, while K-State climbed into the top 25, and is now just ahead of Notre Dame who also has a 5-2 record. This leaves Baylor as the only undefeated Big-12 team as the rest of the conference continues to cannibalize itself (e.g., Ok St vs Iowa St). Like the PAC-12, it seems that on any given week anybody in the conference could beat basically anyone else. This may also be correlated to the fact that these two conferences have the highest two average ranks across all the teams and have collectively played the hardest two sets of opponents (see the tables at the bottom).
It feels like we're finally getting to that point in the season where some of the biggest tests start to come in for teams that have had some easier routes to this point. Quite a few top teams have byes this week before diving in (e.g., Bama, Ohio St, Penn St, LSU, Minn, etc.), but we get things started this week with Florida and Georgia facing off at a neutral site. The winner likely wins the SEC East and goes to the conference championship. Next week we'll have LSU at Bama for the SEC West and Penn St at Minnesota, which may give a glimpse into what we can expect for the Big 10 championship.
Big games this week: Georgia vs Florida at a neutral site (74 vs 58 marble gain potential), Oregon at USC (62 vs 84), Utah at Washington (59 vs 74), SMU at Memphis (51 vs 62), and VT at ND (66 vs 40).
