So it seems the that PAC12 has destroyed itself again. It has got to be the 'flattest' conference in FBS given that it seems that any team can beat any other team on any given week. In some ways that is fun, but it really destroys our Bowl potential and obviously our playoff potential. Washington State is really the only one left that could perhaps make a playoff run, IF a couple of the other conferences also cannibalize themselves a bit. I don't see that happening.
With Oregon, USC, Washington, and Colorado losing, Washington State and Utah have decent positions in their respective regions and come in at 15th and 19th in the rankings--the only two PAC teams in the top 25. Utah actually fell a few spots (as I had predicted they would on Twitter) even though they won, thanks to UCLA just not being that great of a win and because the PAC12 as a whole is lowering itself.
There was some shuffling at the top. Georgia's win helped them out while ND's didn't do them any favors (plus the loses by Stanford and VT hurt them). LSU and Bama both got bye-week bumps but will face off this next week. Gotta expect that the winner of that jumps to #1.
The biggest moves on the week were by Houston, thanks to their win over the undefeated USF, and VT who can't seem to find themselves this year and fell 24 spots after their loss to Georgia Tech.
BYU's loss to N. Illinois drops them to 70th. I'd love if they could beat Boise St. this week though. I should have spread predictions for that and all the other games by either Tuesday or Wednesday.
As always thanks for being here and please let me know if you have feedback or see issues (@NateEMiller).
