As predicted, ND and Clemson both won their games and the order of the top 6 doesn't change. Texas lost another though, so they lost 78 marbles and dropped to 13th.
USF also lost, leaving us with only 4 undefeated teams. UCF was on a bye this week so they gained no marbles, but climbed 4 spots, thanks to teams above them (USC, Stanford, Wisconsin, NC St, etc) losing and falling farther down the list. Of the other three undefeateds, Alabama plays at LSU this week. This will be the first big test Bama has really had this year, and arguably the biggest playoff-determining game of the season thus far. The respective potential marble winnings are 103 to 91. So if Bama wins, they'd be at 556 total, but that may not be enough to lock up first place yet. ND is on the road at NW with the potential to take 60 marbles (or lose 105), which would be sufficient to keep them ahead of Alabama for now. Clemson is home against Louisville and will likely only be getting 9 marbles.
Other big games around the league: Penn St. at Michigan (102 vs 58 marble take potential), Georgia at Kentucky (86 vs 77 marbles), Cal at Washington St (93 vs 43 marbles), Oklahoma at Texas Tech (51 vs 68 marbles), and West Virginia at Texas (79 vs 63 marbles).
How has UTEP still not won a game?
If you find any mistakes or have any comments please let me know on Twitter (@NateEMiller). The Commish, I'm sure, would also love to discuss (@IowaHawkBlog).
If anyone is interested in checking out the ranking system I've been running for about 8 years as well, I'd love to discuss it with you also. You can find the latest numbers here. I calculate that UCF has played the easiest schedule of any team all year so far, and S. Carolina has played the hardest.
